Lars Anderson and Derrik Gibson for a half season rental of Berkman? Some Astros beat write must think Epstein gives away his top prospects for old and fast declining players, who will not even be offered arbitration for fear that would accept.

“At Home Plate says that Carl Crawford’s future is uncertain.”
Breaking news!!! A free agent star’s future is uncertain.

Upon further review (and I assume there might be an even earlier occurrence) then the one I will quote, Jose Oquendo was NOT the first ever position player to record a decision, at least, not in 1986!
Outfielder Rocky Colavito, near the end of his career, pitched in relief for the NY Yankees on Aug, 25, 1968 (my father’s birthday) in a game the Yankees trailed 5-1; but they rallied for 5 runs in the last of the sixth for a 6-5 lead and then manager Ralph Houk used his bullpen regulars to cement the comeback, Rocky getting the win in relief. Lindy McDaniel got the save.

Anyone else other than myself think the Royals should consider trading Greinke? Poor guy doesn’t even have a win this year, hate to see such an extremley talented pitcher waste his skill on a lousy team.

That isn’t a good reason to trade him. But I do feel bad for him.

Holy crap, sign the Sox up for that Greinke trade right now. They have outfield depth right now, better prospects in the lower minors in Lin, Fuentes, Westmoreland (if he ever comes back), etc., so losing Reddick and Kalish is not that big a deal for the Sox, and Kelly and Gibson for Greinke is a no-brainer. Prospects for an established player, let alone one of the top 3 pitchers in baseball…Then Buchholz could be flipped with pretty much no pain with other prospects for a bat. Good God. Too bad it would never happen, and Greinke likely would be very uncomfortable in the spotlight.

Greinke to the Yanks would be genius. Tim, I’d love to have a more in depth conversation about this one. Frankly, more than Oswalt, this could easily become the biggest trade rumor of the season, that is if Fielder is not pitched somewhere.
I would definitely start with Montero and yes, from there, the Royals would definitely be listening. Montero is the #1 rated hitting prospect, for any team, in the minors right now.

Hottest DH prospect in the history of life

I think a lot of teams would be interested in Greinke but they might be thrilled with giving up a ton for him. His talent certainly warrants it but he has had some anxiety issues and missed the better part of a year because of them. That seems to be behind him but playing in Kansas City doesnt even approach the pressure of playing in New York, Boston, Los Angeles or any other competing team.

Was hoping Royals Authority would have a scenario in mind for Greinke to LAD. Oh well. I’m sure they’ve made the call already, if for no other reason than to be able to tell Dodger fans the baseball people are trying but that they are hamstrung by finances, but I haven’t heard a single Lee, Oswalt, Greinke piece yet.
