Figured Jones would get a chance with the Fish as a reliever, especially as awful as the present corp that they have has been and for some reason they tried to turn him into a starter, even though he had been relieving in the Boston organization for years prior to coming over to Florida. Maybe because he had better righty splits than lefty, but he still was decent in his minor league numbers.
He’ll catch on somewhere as another AAAA guy would think.

I don’t want to jump the gun here, but the marlins might kick themselves if he turns out good somewhere else.
I know I did when Joey Devine became good and we traded him.

I get a kick out of some of the Marlins trades. They’ve made some good ones sometimes, but others are just straight up salary dumps. Trading one worthless player for two of them. That Willingham and Olsen trade was still brutal, though.
I guess it’s better to have a cheap bad player than an expensive one who isn’t much better. Hermida isn’t really a starter in this league.

Hermida was a classic Marlins salary dump, pure and simple. Alvarez was only one they were thinking had any real LT chance of helping anyway and Hunter was a reach, but still thought him getting a fresh start with an organization that needed so many BP arms coming into this year, the last thing they would do is try to remake him into something he was not.. A starter..

He’s on the minor league DL and is probably going to need Tommy John. The Marlins needed to open up a spot on the 40-man with a couple guys coming up today so this move makes sense. He’ll probably still end up sticking with them.
