Not to mention that Gomes is on pace to repeat his 20 or so home run performance of last year, and might actually drive in 100 runs this season.

Jonny Gomes was a good signing, and I was hoping the Royals will get him. Massive power, and I don’t want to say easy, but in a healthy season, he can hit 30-40 in Cincy. The fact that he’s one of the worst defensive outfielders around still looms though.
Anyways, Kanekoa had a good Royals debut today. After really having no Rookies last year, we have Dusty, Blake, Marte, and now Tex. All in the pen.

firing MacPhail would be a big mistake, especially because the tendency is usually to hire someone who is very different from their predecessor. seeing as MacPhail is methodical, conservative, and likes to build around young pitching, we would probably hire some Jim Duquette / Steve Phillips clone to replace him….

I’m sorry this is off topic but did anyone watch the Red Sox game last night? Adrian Beltre goes down on one knee to hit a homer. Second time this year and second time I’ve seen that ever.

Yup, saw it and its ridiculous. But hey, whatever works.
