And this is why the phillies won’t make the playoffs and they need to get back end bull pen help or they are done they are so cheap

now i have to go back and change my vote on where wigginton will end up.

As the days pass by, lead is getting bigger and bigger. Phillies need to do something before they are in a deep hole.
They still have a good team that needs to get healthy but they should really look for some bullpen help and a cheap versatile bench filler.

phils gotta do something now any of those bats are a huge upgrade over valdez’s bat, either wiggington at second or tejada at third with polonco playing second until utley gets back

good. they probably wanted a good prospect for either of these stiffs.

They should look to Cleveland Indians and pick up Peralta who is leading all AL 3rd baseman in fielding and can also play Shortstop. He is signed to a very reasonable contract this year and has a cheap option if a team was interested in him for 2011 also.
Peralta’s hitting has been down this year but in then past he tends to hit better when playing for a winning team. And if your a Vet can you really give it your all when you are surrounded by a bunch of rookies on a full-blown rebuiding team, while watching your former team mates in CC and Lee traded to winning teams and going to the playoffs while you are stuck on a losing team through no fault of your own.
I would bet he could be had for a couple of Hi A or Low A ball players outside of the top 10 prospect range.
Something like Jiwan James and Cody Overbeck or Harold Garcia for Peralta and they may even kick in some cash toward Peralta’s contract.

Maybe Overbeck, I wouldn’t give up James or Garcia. Peralta hasn’t hit in two years, doesn’t have a good glove despite the fielding percentage and isn’t really cheap for a fill in/bench guy once Utley returns. Phils would have no use for him in 2011 either. I am sure the Indians would like to dump him and save a couple mil, as they’re destined to decline his option

I think you mean “the defending NL champions”.

The Rangers need either Wigginton, Lowell, or Cantu (probably too expensive money wise and prospect wise) to spell Chris Davis. I love CD, but he can’t hack it against LHP.
I would love to snag Cantu though, he’d be a type B FA, and we’d get a draft pick out of him if we couldn’t sign him after the season.

Wiggington or Tejada is not worth a top 10 prospect in anyone’s organization.
