Decent glove for SS/2B, steady/solid hands. No arm strength for 3B, can’t hit a lick anymore, but a better manager than Manual and imagine when his playing days are done, the area of the game he’ll be headed to. Maybe can help Texas out some as an emergency replacement around the middle IF when rosters expand, but about all he can help a team with anymore. The guy just can’t hit period anymore. Boston let him walk at the perfect time and the NYM messed up and not only gave him 1 over valued FA contract.. But 2..

Saying the strength of a guy’s managerial skills is being better than Jerry Manuel isn’t exactly a glowing endorsement.
I wish Alex all the luck in the world. He’s going to need it, because he’s absolutely awful at his current craft.
Perhaps he might make a fine manager some day, but the Rangers are paying him to provide something off the bench. Don’t think they are going to get it.
At least the Rangers won’t be using him as a Pinch Hitter with the game on the line, like Jerry did over, and over, and over.

Yeah, it’s hard to believe anyone would ever choose to let Cora hit for anyone. Lots of pitchers hit better than this guy has over the course of his career. Would think that at this point of his career, even the hapless Julio Lugo of ex-Red Sox middle infield discards would be a better choice. The few games have seen Cora play in this season it looks like he has lost an awful lot of his range around the field and he certainly can’t hit.

easily the best pinch productive out maker in the game.

Kelly Johnson would tear it up on the Rangers.

He’s better than Arias that’s for sure. You can’t get much worse.

Brought some fire to a lackluster Mets team, and i preferred him over Castillo any day. Good pickup for the Rangers as far as a professional/winning attitude goes but is there infield depth that weak?
