They shouldn’t trade him…But it sure would have been an extra fun off-season if he was on the block.
sdsuphilip
Im sure you said the same thing about Kemp and Dodgers last year…
Ferrariman
Why would the dodgers have traded kemp last season? He was coming off a great season.
TheodoreRoosevelt
If you’re *going* to trade somebody, isn’t it best to trade them at the peak of their value?
BlueCatuli
Only if it benefits the team. In what scenario last offseason would trading Matt Kemp have been beneficial to the Dodgers.
Dave_Gershman
Actually I didn’t. I did think the Adrian Gonzalez would get traded last off-season though. But I wasn’t producing the chalk board scrating resemblence of Reddick, Kalish, Doubront, Bowden, and Lars Anderson proposals that made everyone crazy.

Dammit. I wanted the Jays to get him.
But a good decision by the Cardinals nonetheless.
Dave_Gershman
Yeah. And Ferrariman your my proof…You have never heard me say anything about trading Kemp right?
Ferrariman
Not that I remember
Shamboozle
Dang.
Jake Humphrey
Well damn. The offseason would have been very interesting with Rasmus on the block.
Dave_Gershman
I know I wanted the Jays to get him too!!!!
Henry Castellanos
Wanted Atlanta to get him… But good job by John Mo though
Jake Humphrey
I think all Braves fans wanted us to get him. After years of having a shitty outfield, Rasmus and Heyward would have been a GREAT starting point.
NL_East_Rivalry
Any team would want Rasmus. I think the Braves need him more than any other team though.

For what it’s worth, 42.6% of more than 1,500 MLBTR readers are idiots.
Dave_Gershman
exactly thank you. My man the STL Cards fan, Ferrariman!

Now Mo just needs to focus on less dumpster diving. Please have Randy Winn, Happy Pete and Aaron Miles clear out their lockers immediately.
InTheKZone
While I agree, there weren’t many options mid season. However, Tyler Greene and Allen Craig should have been on the 25 man all season.
Craig Cutler
Thank goodness. I love Colby.
The_Porcupine
The Cards would have been fools to trade him. Other than Holliday and Pujols, they don’t have anyone else on offense. Sure, he would have landed them several good prospects, but he’s on his way to be a stud.
gocrazy
I like this.

Doesn’t make me believe that he’s definitely not being traded. That last sentence left the door open (it would be difficult to replace him? Why not say impossible if you’re deadset on keeping him?).
Don’t think he will be traded. But definitely believe his name will still come up in talks at the winter meetings.

^This. GM’s say all kinds of things about what they’re going to do. Is LaRussa coming back? Once he’s had a feud with a player that player ends up gone. Let bygones be bygones doesn’t work with him. If Rasmus stays and LaRussa returns, Rasmus will live part of his Cardinal life in the doghouse-so they get better value by shipping him out.
I think it’s just happy talk so Mozeliak can attempt to hold another team hostage.
Lanidrac
All reports from the Cardinals indicate that there is no “feud.” The situation was blown way out of proportion. I could’ve told you Rasmus wouldn’t be traded shortly after the “story” (or lack thereof) first broke.

Ill put money Rasmus will still be on the block.. This was posted to settle Cardinal fans and or players for now due to this becoming a distraction…I love the Cardinals but Rasmus sure seems to be playing his way out of STL the past few weeks.
Terry Jerden
Too bad I was hoping the braves would get him. I thought a trade of JJ for Colby would help both teams. I don’t blame the Cards for not trading him.
nathanalext
I can’t believe anything like this is even being considered.
