Umm Girardi has 2 consecutive postseason appearances and a WS win under his belt so far. I’m pretty sure he’ll be getting an offer from the yanks when the postseason is over… never mind that he’s “lost leverage” with the Mets.
basemonkey
I think this might only be important in how Girardi uses the Mets as leverage for a better contract with the Yanks.
Slopeboy
First it was the Cubs, then the Cards and now the Mets. Please give me a break!! The Cubs rumor was pausible because of the history and pedigree. The Cards rumor was a reach, but now this Mets rumor is just plain ludicrous. Why would he leave the stable and professional Yankees for circus that is the Mets? The everyday pressure ,scrutiny, and media frenzy would be enormous and not worth any kind of money for Girardi.
shockey12
Girardi whom I perceive not to be a good manager could manage a $200 million team to the playoffs…but yeah Girardi is a good manager
Joe L
He means that he lost leverage with the Yankees, in that, he can no longer use the Cubs as an alternative option for him when negotiating with the Yankees, not the Mets.
Cameron Nelson
Girardi’s just proof that even anybody can manage the Yankees into October….And that’s coming from a Yankees fan.
Vmmercan
A former Manager of the year is proof anyone can manage? Oh, OK.
Dave_Gershman
The only good news about Rivera not managing the Jays is that he will manage the Fisher Cats next season. Nice!
Sniderlover
Yeah he needs more experience and he did a great job down there.
Personally, I think he should be at Vegas.
Dave_Gershman
I know I say this about everybody, but what a great guy as well. Can’t wait to see he and the guys in Dunedin!

The Jays did however say Sal Fasano’s facial hair is still be considered.
Dave_Gershman
If they interview Sal Fasano, they might as well interview Corky Miller.
boyofsummer
Wasn’t he Bautista’s beard mentor?
start_wearing_purple
Probably, but Fasano learned from Rollie Fingers’ mustache.
EdinsonPickle
Sal Fasano no longer under consideration!? Blasphemy!
Sniderlover
lol… he didn’t have much of a chance I guess. He has very little experience but he’s still done a great job down there.
Scott Brecht
good call above, i didn’t want girardi coming to the cubs. maybe in a few more years when he has some more experience. Quade earned the job and will come at a much smaller paycheck than joe.

Girardi has managed 3 seasons 2 playoff apperences, 1 WS and had his marlins team in contention most of the year which gave him NL manager of the year. How could you want girardi when he has more expierence, but be ok with Quade? That makes almost no sense
