Hunsicker has a sweet gig in Tampa, I can’t superficially find a reason why he’d want to leave there.
I think Jennings is the best candidate available for the Mets job now that Towers is out of the picture.
I’d like the team to consider Kim Ng as well. Semi-sidebar: My brother’s girlfriend used to scout for the Diamondbacks up until a couple weeks ago. She left because of how awful the front office environment is in respect to women.

It’s a bit early to go christening any one person as the best choice for the job when the field of candidates isn’t even set, but I like the enthusiasm.
As for Kim Ng, seems like years since I’ first started hearing great things about her impressive baseball instincts and savvy. Sounds like all that’s missing is a team with vision and guts enough to give her a chance. It might be rough for awhile, but for pioneers it always is.

Okay, I’ll take the job…they’ve talked me into it.

You’re recycling. Said that yesterday.

Bad form by the Marlins. It makes Loria look silly and that he is truly afraid his people want to leave his employ. Take care of your employees and treat them the right way, they will be loyal.

Which gm would be most interested in young players?

“a very special situation” = Six zeroes on the paycheck.

What are the chances the Cardinals get or go after Jose Reyes? I know everyone thinks St. Louis is running out of money but it sounds as if the Cardinals are ready to expand the payroll situation and they may not get an extension done with Albert in the off season. I dont know what Jose is getting paid now but Im sure he would consider a semi pay cut to go to a semi competitive team like the Cardinals.

Dont know anything about Jennings, but the Marlins have a knack of drafting and developing young talent. Wonder how instrumental Jennings was in that department. If he was, he could be exactly what the Mets need, someone to build a farm system.

How about former Twins GM and Mets superscout Terry Ryan? He’s known as an outstanding talent evaluator and is well respected across baseball. He stepped down as Twins GM in 2007 and hasn’t returned to the fray, but a couple years ago when the Astros were looking for a GM his name surfaced and I believe I read that he showed some interest. So, bring him to New York.
And you know what he brings with him? A manager named Ron Gardenhire, who would be the perfect skipper for the Mets in a rebuilding mode. Gardenhire is under contract through 2011 but I’m sure with all he has given the Twins organization since he was hired in 2002, they would pat him on the back and wish him well if he chose to return to the organization (Mets) that originally drafted him as a player.
