Okay so there’s mutual interest. Now just give him the job before something goes sour.

Best move for the Mets or would Hahn be a better fit?
Dave_Gershman
Sandy Alderson is one of the smartest Baseball people around. This is definetly a good move.
Jake Humphrey
Best move for the Mets (ouch). Alderson is a military man that knows how to organize and run things. He was also Billy Beane’s mentor and has the balls to tell Jeff Wilpon to leave him the hell alone. If the Mets were smart, they’d hire Alderson and give him free reign of that front office.
Dave_Gershman
you are 100000000% right and are especially right about his autonomy (or freedom of having his own space). He is also a Dartmouth grad as well. And he is simply just one of the smartest Baseball people around giving the Mets automatically one of the best GM’s in Baseball. If anybody can turn the Mets organization in to the great organization it’s known for, it’s Sandy.
Also Tony La Russa managed under Sandy for 11 years. I wonder if he’ll give him a call.

NONONONONONONONONONONONONONO!!!!!
If Alderson is hired, he cannot, under any circumstance bring in LaRussa. He just can’t. LaRussa would self destruct in the media glare in New York. It would not be pretty; it would not be at all be helpful to the Mets to employ LaRussa. Just say NOOOOOOOOOO!
Dave_Gershman
so what you’re saying is that you want Tony La Russa to manage the Mets.

“If anybody can turn the Mets organization in to the *great organization it’s known for*, it’s Sandy.”
my, you have a good memory if you can remember that far back
Dave_Gershman
no. I actually wasn’t even alive for ’86.
crashcameron
you nailed it!
me and the Mets ended when Tom Seaver left
Wilsonl
Hi
Henry Castellanos
Brian Wilson blew your lead in Gm 2.
Dave_Gershman
but not in game 3 or most of the regular season.
Wilsonl
not today
CaseyBlakeDeWitt
I believe you win the award for most pointless post. Hahaha

I don’t understand the correlation between being watched and being a substitute teacher. Did Sullivan have a bad experience as a child with a substitute teacher?
strikethree
Most of my substitute teachers weren’t good enough to be real teachers…
icedrake523
In my experience, the subs never did much of anything.
pageian
Substitute teachers can try but they don’t have any real authority.
Henry Castellanos
That’s perposterous. Substitute teachers have more bad expiriences than children.
Mdey
That Travis Hafner contract was a horrible deal. I said it back then, and of course I’m proved right.
YanksFanSince78
Do you have proof of this “alleged” Nostradamus like prediction?
HerbertAnchovy
That’s pretty easy to say now though, isn’t it?
Nathan
Clearly the important news here is the stuff about former Brewers “great” Pat Listach (hey, at least he was the 1992 AL Rookie of the Year). Seeing him at the helm of the Cubs would have caused me and the four other Brewers fans willing acknowledge the existence of our dreadful 90s cast of characters to cringe.
studio179
No worries, you’re safe. Listach had no chance getting the job.
studio179
I was hoping that the Ricketts family would hire Alderson to be more than a GM, but the Cubs president when they took over last year. It appears having a non baseball guy in Crane Kenney as presdent is good enough for the Cubs.
Good move for the Mets.
