I doubt many teams have an opening for the “bat boy” position.
After last year I can’t see anyone signing him to anything other than an incentive laden contract. That or he signs minor league and proves himself for a few weeks before coming up.
G D
I can see some High School signing him to run the JV squad and maybe teach History or something, but that’s about it. The guy isn’t even minor-league replacement level.
moonraker45
well done.
TartanElk
You don’t think history might be a bit above his talents? He honestly looks like one of the janitors at my old high school. Winter job perhaps?

In his backyard?

Wait I got it, he buys a copy of MLB 11 and adds himself from the free agent pool onto the Yankees. Career fixed.

The story could have said “Everett to look over local YMCA offerings for the summer”

WHY
penpaper
Sorry for my ignorance but isn’t this guy highly regarded to be a future coach, maybe even manager?

Who are these multiple interested teams?

All of you are ripping Everett. At least he made it to the majors.

Apparently, this is the no love for Adam Everett thread.
I know the guy doesn’t have a Gold Glove to prove it, but he was once one of the best defensive shortstops in the game. I would guess he thinks he still is, and that someone will want him because of that.
Certainly, no one will want him for his bat.

No one is trying to rip Adam Everett, but c’mon, the guy hit .185 and hasn’t hit .250 since ’04.
Even if he is good defensivly ( i’m not sure ), no team wants a guy who hit’s .185, players in the minors can hit better.

Why start now?

God giveth and god taketh, but unfortunately god gaveth a glove and taketh the bat and you do have to hit to play in the majors. Much like Babe Ruth, this guy won’t be playing ball next year.

The Tigers cut him loose when he could no longer hit a major league fastball into fair territory. When you can’t hit anymore, as the saying goes, the pitchers will tell you.
There was a shortage of shortstops when the Tigers cut him in mid-season. No one bit: all could see the bat speed was gone. The passage of time just makes him older.

Who for is the question? Indie league?

You’d think someone with 90 at-bats spread out over 3 months in 2010 would have at least a .350 batting average – no wonder he was released….
