I will be really pissed if Kemp gets traded. yes his numbers were down this year, but people forget that this kid is 25 years old with 89 home runs and 104 stolen bases under his belt.

I’d be surprised if the rumors about him being traded this offseason are anything but rumors. As Wonderboy said, last year he was the best CFer, untradeable… after a down year he’s a pariah. Rule 101 about trading… unless absolutely necessary, never trade an asset when it’s value is low.

I think the team would still have to overpay to get him but who knows… they could decide to cut more costs. Not sure if their owner situation was resolved yet.
I think Kemp is due for a bounce back year… especially if he changes teams.

I don’t see Kemp getting traded unless Colletti is blown away like he was when he parted with James McDonald and Andrew Lambo for a few weeks of Octavio Dotel.
What are the chances the Dodgers get rid of Kemp & Loney this offseason?

I didn’t look at the title, just saw “The White Sox signed Mark Kotsay to a one-year, $1.5MM deal.” and almost threw my laptop against the wall. Kotsay is the devil.

Why did they have to resign Kotsay??? WHHHYYYYYYYY?!?!?!

I find it extremely unlikely that the Marlins will non-tender Nunez. What would be the point of that he is one of the best young closers/power arms in Baseball.
myname_989
Because he’s gonna start making actual money, and that’s what the Marlins do when their players salaries increase.
Dave_Gershman
I suppose, but they can get a lot in return. But his value is killed now.
myname_989
I get to see Nunez a lot, and I think he has good potential. For some reason though, he always give you that feeling like he’s a time bomb waiting to explode. I said that about Matt Lindstrom too though, and he’s pitched pretty well since leaving Florida. Marlins are in a tough spot. They definitely don’t want to commit a good amount of money to a reliever like Nunez.

Who’s expecting a Nunez non-tender?
Dave_Gershman
not you and not me, but some people who don’t know the fish

dodgers would be really stupid to trade kemp. our offense is weak so it wouldn’t make sense to trade a guy that will help our offense.

I would say that JJ Hardy panned out for the Twinkies just fine. Shortstop is a heck of a position to try to fill…
Seeing the Nats get neither of the two guys they were “interested in” last year makes me really question whether or not Carlos Pena is as destined to go there as I seem to think he is… interesting. That team continues to be a mystery wrapped in an enigma. And I’m not sure if that’s a good thing.

I wish the Royals would make a trade to get James Shields or Matt Garza and hold on to Zack Greinke… That would make for a nice one two… Not sure what it would take to get one of these guys but maybe Billy Butler for Shields or Garza might get it done I would think…
Royals pitching would be set for the next fews years with 3,4 and 5 coming from the farm system…

Don’t forget Brian Sweeney also was claimed.

Russell Branyan in 2010 was third among Seattle hitters with a WAR of 0.9 ($3.4 million) despite playing only 54 games for the weak-hitting Mariners (who could have used Branyan’s full-season WAR of 2.0 ($7.9 million)).
