2.5 million with the padres

He could have fit as a ‘home’ catcher since he couldn’t do sh*t on the road.

Players aren’t perfect, but that doesn’t mean he wouldn’t succeed elsewhere. I’d like to see him sign with the Orioles or Padres.

So is this a sure sign that the Rockies are going after Victor Martinez or is Iannetta their man?
friscofan101
he could be a sweet back up to buster posey. but im getting greedy.
jwsox
whitesox? if he is still a free agent for a while he could be a viable option if flowers is not ready yet.
Dave_Gershman
They’d have to sign a starting catcher first. Plus, Ramon Castro is already the back up catcher.

If his option is declined, I’d like to see Olivo sign with the Mets for one year. I like how he’s been able to work with guys like Greinke & Jimenez the last two years and turn them into great, Cy Young award-winning hurlers. Maybe he could help some of the young Met starters (Pelf, Niese, Gee).

I could see him as a platoon together with Salty for the BoSox. Much cheaper than V-Mart, and while his offense is not as good as Victor’s, his D is miles better. He can actually throw out a good percentage of guys who try and steal.

I don’t understand this either. They already have to pay him a $500K buyout, so the decision is really about $2.2 million. I would pick up the option and then pursue V-Mart. If they get Victor then they can trade Olivo or Iannetta, and if they don’t get him then they could use both of those guys anyway.
