I really think the Mets should see what Reyes could bring back in a trade during the meetings, wouldn’t at all surprise me if he was traded during them.

Sign Jeff Francis, get rid of Beltran, acquire an OF…done. thanks.
Joe L
All depends on the return Beltran brings and what OF you’re talking about at what price, but I like the idea of signing Francis (and even Chris Young) depending on the price they come at. Getting the right players at the right price will be Alderson’s toughest task with the payroll mess he inherited. Thankfully in a couple years we should have some serious payroll flexibility.

Mets are bargain bin shopping and I love it. The have to – we are rebuilding

I wouldn’t mind adding: Jeff Francis, Chris R. Young, Austin Kearns, Willy Aybar, Joel Peralta, George Sherrill, and D.J. Carrasco

I like Murphy, the reports from Winter Ball have been reasonably optimistic, but there’s still plenty of reason to be skeptical about if he can handle the transition. To the point where you can’t close the door on other alternatives. I’d take Lowrie, I’d prefer a pitching prospect, but I’d take Lowrie.
Giorgi Almonte
i know he will, i saw him playing here in dominican, so i know what im talking about!!

Mets wouldn’t want Dice-K, for one, Alderson pretty much said today he’s not giving out any multi-year deals, so the chances of him taking back multiple years of a bad contract are between slim and none. You’d have a better chance suggesting the Mets just write a 10 million dollar check and adding a 2nd prospect to the deal.
PS: Even with Pagan, Duda and Bay in the same outfield is a nightmare waiting to happen defensively.

you are lost

Lets just go with what we have next year because we cant add to much salary anyway. As long as they dont sign Chris Young i will be fine.A pitcher who has averaged 65 innings the last three years is not the way to go
sweetcaroline2011
The sox should trade them dice k and lowrie or scutaro for reyes.

IMO this year is about taking 1 year gambles, not playing it safe. By all accounts we’re not expected to contend in 2011, so why not take a chance with a Chris Young on a 1 year deal? Selling low on Beltran and Reyes now is just a plain dumb idea. However, I’ll give away Castillo for pretty much anything (or nothing) I’m actually pretty excited about the internal options at 2B among Daniel Murphy, Tejada, Turner.
1) Castillo, Perez, cash considerations, a “thank you so much”, a hug, and tears of joy for a “You’re welcome, Mets fans” from a GM to be named later.
2) Sign Brandon Webb or Chris Young to a one year deal.
3) Acquire a LHP reliever.
4) Let Justin Turner, Daniel Murphy, and Ruben Tejada battle it out for 2B with the likely outcome of either Turner or Murphy getting the job while the other gets a utility role. Tejada to AAA.
5) Get excited for 2012 blockbuster trades/acquisitions. I know there’s nothing that good projected in the FA market, but we can always trade to take on payroll.
Let’s go Mets!
