Oh Schlit
Matt
This is bigger than the Phils getting Lee from the clutches of the Yankees.
Kickme Inthenads
Still don’t give a schlitt.
MB923
A small sample size, but WHIP just under 3 and a 3.15 ERA? Wowzers.
rizdak
I’ll bet he throws gas
richard h
he throws arrows with no movement at all
MB923
Actually Ben you might want to fix that. On B-R, it says his ERA was 12.38, not 3.15.
Was going to say, you have to be the luckiest pitcher in the world to have a WHIP that high and an ERA that low
Edit- Nevermind, now I misread that lol. Ignore these last 2 posts.
melkor77
Damn! Schlitter get off the pot!
Weak, I know.
Chuck345
Alright guys, enough with the Schlit jokes. Schlit’s gettin old.
myname_989
He wasn’t too bad in the Phils’ system before they traded him for Scott Eyre. I’d rather have him on the 40-man than Andrew Carpenter anyway.
MB923
Bearing an injury to a reliever, you probably won’t see either of them throw a single pitch in a Phillies uniform, or at least not until September call ups.
myname_989
So what? If it came down to it, I’d rather have Schlitter called up than Carpenter. Lol
Zachary Links
Best. Lede. Ever.
TartanElk
Props for journalistic use of lede.
Patricio
Don’t know how I feel about this. At least Andrew Carpenter has some potential as a number 5 starter.
jasonk
Not on this Phillies team he doesn’t.
Encarnacion's Parrot
@Patricio
A 3.15 ERA in the PCL is actually kind of impressive.
Jeremy Swedroe
schlittler was originally drafted by the phils and traded to the cubs for eyre in ’08
bomberj11
Let’s hope his career doesn’t go down the…schlitter…
richard h
wasted spot on 40 man roster poor mechanics and throws arrows
Pecos_Drifter
When did Cliff Lee pitch for the Yankees to have him “Nabbed” from them? Must be a really rare baseball card
Alex 18
The Yanks designated Schlitter for assignment. How exactly is this similar to the Yanks losing out on Cliff Lee? This is a pretty pathetic excuse to bring that debacle up again. Would it have been so hard to just say “The Phils claimed Schlitter from the Yanks”?
Anthony
I still think it’s funny that people are still saying that Lee ‘stuck it to’ the Yankees, when it was the Rangers that offered the best overall deal for his services. So if anything, he ‘stuck it to’ the Rangers, not the Yankees.
Verlander_Will_Save_Us_All
I think they are being sarcastic.
Anthony
For such a minor thread, this is turned into one of my favorites on MLBTR.
Dudeman
Phillies climbin’ in yo’ windows, snatchin’ yo’ pitchers up. Tryin’a’ sign ’em so y’all need to hide your Cliffs, hide your Roys. And hide your Brians too ’cause they signin’ e’rybody out there.
Matthew T
Came for Schlitter jokes, was not disappointed.
Aaron X
Phillies give a schlit – Phillies take a schlit.
jayrig5
I saw no one had mentioned that the new Phils AAA manager, Ryne Sandberg, managed him extensively in the minors with the Cubs, and I remember Sandberg praising him multiple times over the past few years, so I’m sure he had some input.
LTRthe_original
Lee was with the Yankees last season? Weird because I thought he finished the season with the Rangers. Phillies have nabbed one Yankees pitcher this offseason
