Sometimes you forget Sosa was even with the Orioles.

Feb 2nd 2009…..the beginning of Omar’s end.

To be 100% honest, when the Yanks signed CC and were known to be looking for another pitcher, I honestly thought signing Perez might be a good idea. The idea of having two hard throwing lefties @ the age 28 and 27 was too good not to entertain. I’m so glad it wasn’t done. Our AAA staff woulf be too full with both Igawa and Perez.

No it wouldn’t because Perez wouldn’t accept a minor league assignment.

haha well at least the yankees would have enough money to releasehim like the mets should have

The Mets needed to sign him. After two straight years of losing the Phillies in September, Minaya had to make a move. Remember, Perez was 4-0 with an ERA of 1.76 against PHIL in 2008, and Pelfrey wasn’t showing much upside. Minaya was in a bad fix, but would have been better off getting Derek Lowe.

Paige was actually 59 when he pitched in 1965, pretty crazy.

That’s quite the HOF class.

Satchel Paige was 58 when he pitched 3 scoreless innings against the Sox in 1965… Just wanted to point it out since it puts more emphasis on how incredible it was that he was able to do what he did.

59 your right EHenson

I loved watching Greg Vaughn hit. He was just a classic hitter who was always swinging for the fences, kinda like Jose Bautista.
