If I was Moz, wouldn’t you want to at least kick the tires on a longer termed extension with Wainwright?

If I was the Cards I would see what about restructuring the deal making the hit in 2012-2013 less while adding on years. It would give Wainwright more security in case his arm does not respond quickly while giving them relief from having to take a 21 million dollar gamble on his rehab. However, I do not think it is a no brainer like Holiday that they will pick it up. If he is not progressing well they can not pick up the option and always bring him back for less once he is healthy.

You don’t think any other team would take a chance on a re-habbing Wainwright. Oakland gave Sheets $10 mil last year. The Nationals wouldn’t take a stab at him coming back to being a top 5 SP??? AW knows the market for him will be there. I doubt he takes any ‘discount’ contract…

Nate will be just fine, but I still think the Pirates won that trade.
As much as we hate him, Castillo will be the Met’s starting 2B this season.

Hernandez has yet to get past AA, posting a .667 OPS last year. Morton is awful. Locke has been good, but he’s still in AA as well. I’d say the trade is a wash so far, just because of Locke’s potential.

his XFIP was 4.20 for last season and I want to see how he does with a full season with new pitching coach Ray Searage. He’s not a bust YET!!

I don’t see how you’re so convinced Pitt won that trade. Charlie Morton got absolutely shelled last year (2-12, ERA 7.5+ in 79 IP, and 1.7 HR/9).
Locke has been relatively ineffective in the minors so far, but his ERA has lingered around 3.5 since the trade. He was recently moved up to AA ball but he’s still years away from the majors. I think he has the most potential of the three traded, but I don’t see it working out. Probably a career minor leaguer.
And unless Gorkys Hernandez can get going again, I don’t see him getting out of the minor leagues anytime soon either.
Now, if the Braves can get ONE solid year out of McLouth…..just one…..he’ll have been more valuable to the Braves than the 3 guys traded have been to the Pirates. Thus far, I think the trade was a bust for both sides, especially considering what the Braves are paying McLouth.

lol win-loss record cited for a pirates pitcher
18.1 HR/FB% + .353 BABIP + 53.2 LOB% = no survivors
Nick Papagiorgio
Ok….take away his record and just check out that 7.5 ERA. I’m sure that’s because he’s on the pirates too, right? Who did Greinke and Felix Hernandez pitch for last year again???
Smrtbusnisman04
Last year he was bad, but consider this; his era was largely inflated by homeruns and he showed better control in september. His XFIP was 4.20 for last season and I want to see how he does with a full season with new pitching coach Ray Searage. He’s not a bust YET!!

Again, Heyman breaks stunning news! Besides a few delusional Orioles fans, did anyone really think the O’s were going to contend in the AL east? To their credit, the O’s have improved, but at best they may overtake the Blue Jays for 4th place if all goes right.
TheHotCorner 2
Serious? The O’s aren’t contenders. Really? Next thing you know Heyman is going to tell us the Pirates aren’t contenders. That Heyman is one crazy dude.

Cause clearly starting Vanderhurk or w/e is name in a spring training game means we will play that bad in the season. spring training always correlates so well
