I wonder what they Mariners would have given up to get A-Gon.
Grimace Boyer
Everything. And they STILL wouldn’t have competed.
Threat_Level_RedSox
Ramirez, Agon and Uggla as you 3,4,5 hitters atleast gives you a shot at the wild card.
AirmanSD
That would be if he was traded to the Marlins. Not the Mariners. But I can not see how the Padres would not have demanded Ackley/Pineda + for Adrian considering at the time he had two years left on his deal.
Threat_Level_RedSox
my bad, it would of cleared out the mariners system given the Lee trade
woadude
I hope that was sarcasm as the Mariners gave the Phillies the most useless prospects you could ever imagine.
woadude
They wouldn’t have been able to include Ackley, and Pineda plus what?
MB923
Would be hard to say. The Padres, like the Mariners had a poor offensive team outside of A-Gon and both had very good pitching teams. I don’t know how that trade would have worked either.
woadude
They probably didn’t match up, I mean think about Mariners prospects and ask yourself what it would of taken and it is easy to understand why this trade never happened.
Cobby Box
“We heard over the weekend that the Padres are looking at Alberto Gonzalez and Robert Andino.”
The Padres are just plain more comfortable writing “A. Gonzalez” onto the line-up card.
Patrick Radkowski
maybe alberto will wear #23 so i dont have to buy another jersey

Why would the A’s possibly have any interest in Luis Hernandez? Andy LaRoche or Eric Sogard would probably be just as good. And they still have options left (unlike Hernandez).
Rosenthal is a pretty good journalist, in my opinion. But that’s poor conjecture.
RepOak
Yea sogard is having a solid ST. No need to look for a backup infielder. Pennington still not ready for everyday play and Rosales should be ready by May. LaRoche and Sogard is a good temporay fix.

Padres’ interest in exploring Mariners trade: Not much, they didn’t bother to send any scouts out to Peoria.
