No way in hell should CJ Wilson even sniff 100 million. Hes been decent but I would not give him a 7 year deal, nor 20 million a year. Id be ok signing him 3 years 45 million with an option for a 4th and 5th year based on performance.

Seriously? AJ Burnett got a 82million deal. Ya there’s no way in hell he’s getting 100million(sarcasm)

Come on, he’s 30 years old, and he’s outshined by all the other great pitchers in the AL West. Texas needs this guy back, and New York needs a starting pitcher. Someone will sign him to a deal worth 100MM. Why? His FIP is 3.07. His BB/9 is 3.03 this year. Last year it was 4.10. His K/9 rate is also up. This year it is 8.10/9, last year it was 7.50. His HR/9 is low as usual. His WAR is 4.8, and he’s still got a good 5-7 starts left. According to Fangraphs, he’s been worth 21.6MM this year. Again, with teams looking for starting pitching and regardless of whether C.C. opts out or not (he’s staying in New York either way), he’s going to be the most pursued in a thin market of starting pitching. There is no one hitting FA in 2012 that is a pitcher of C.J. Wilson’s caliber. Mark Buehrle is coming back to the White Sox, Bedard isn’t really that good, Kuroda is old, and I don’t know if many pitchers are willing to pay 20 million a year for Wainwright coming off Tommy John surgery.

supply and demand baby. once sabathia re-signs, c.j. stands alone. and way more than one club with money needs a top starter – which, make no mistake, he is

Wilson is good, but there is no way in hell he is 100 million good! He’s not an ace, he should get #2 money unless you account for his straightedginess…then he’s worth 100 million I guess

some serious underrating of wilson in this thread. his numbers the last two years are as good as most of the AL aces. then you factor in the ballpark he pitches in, and they’re even better
FIP- (adjusted for park and league), last two years:
verlander 69
weaver 72
hernandez 78
wilson 79
lester 81
and for you ERA enthusiasts, ERA-:
weaver 63
verlander 69
hernandez 71
sabathia 74
lester 76
wilson 77
price 79
boom. pay up

nats might as well sign him for 100 mill… he can hang out with werth lolz
Daniel Piedade
As a Rangers fan, I’d hate to see him go. I DO in fact think he’ll get 100M since he’s the best FA pitcher in a weak class (not counting CC). I can see a team moneywhipping him like the Nationals did with Werth.
If the Yankees have a lousy playoffs. I expect them to extend CC and sign CJ.

Flanagan’s passing hit Baltimore hard. Thanks for the memories Flanny.

I was reading on Yahoo today that Flanagan commited suicide and was having financial struggles. He was one of my favorite pitchers growing up.
