Wait so is Billy Beane Brad Pitt or vice versa?
MattCMoore
Idk but I never pictured Billy looking like Brad…
rfffr
why are they rewarding mediocrity?

Sabremetrics told him to do this. Moneyball at its best.

With the last line that would really suck if somehow Geren came back….

i like bob melvin but his record was no better than geren’s was. someone needs to light a fire under some asses. There is no reason the club can’t win with the players that were there this year.
trade for guillen lol
w00ters mcgee
Billy needs to restore that moneyball PED magic of the early part of last decade.

Billy Martin did a pretty jam up job of lighting some fires under some arses when he was manager, even with a pretty awful roster and serious… other than a NICE pitching staff plus a very few decent positional players..This ain’t no AS team you know…
Agreed this team needs a gruff/commanding manager to get the best out of them with what they have, but one the players respect and that can be tough in this day and age. geren is proof of that with the revolt he had last season and maybe the fact he lasted as long as he did (strong) is why Beane kept him around, rather than a players manager, which IMO melvin is more of.
Davey Johnson may have been a stronger choice if he was willing to relocate here, Larry Bowa is another who comes to mind.
