in my experience blue jays fans are a pretty savvy and realistic group. but they seem to lose their grip a bit when it comes to joey votto
Lunchbox45
he’s from canada!!!!!1111111
i know exactly what you mean, that article linked up there is a joke..
the trade begins with adam lind? why on earth would the reds do with lind and at his point given lind’s salary is he in any way an upgrade over Alonzo?
how can you mention a possible jays/reds trade without mentioning the already in house votto replacement…???
just sign fielder, he’s like 10% canadian, thats good enough.
notsureifsrs
– the whole point of trading votto would be to give alonso the spot
– “When your offer begins with Adam Lind, the other team has to listen, don’t they?”
yea, nvm. not dissecting it. that line says it all right there i think
Lunchbox45
because canadian baseball fans are made to feel so obsolete, any mention of something remotely canadian puts people in a frenzy…
I remember after a few weeks of Lawrie people were still asking him stupid questions about where he was born, instead of how awesome he was playing..
i personally couldn’t care less, if votto was dominican or american, he’s a fine ball player.. at this point though, the jays have more glaring holes. It would be nice, but only if the price is reasonable, and the reds have no reason to be reasonable.
notsureifsrs
well that’s good, because votto is dominican. you thought they only lied about their age…
but if offers are actually being listened to, there’s no way anthopolous passes on making an effort. i’m still convinced it would have to be a 3 team deal, though. the jays and reds just don’t match up well at all
David Struthers
They’d have to listen if you were on speakerphone and the Reds front office has gathered to silently laugh at you.

The Reds should trade Alonzo and Grandel for Shields!

Joey was born in Toronto and grew up in Toronto, the idea of having two Canadian (Possibly future hall of famers :D) is just too good to ignore. Think about it Bautista manning the outfield and Votto and Lawrie manning the infield.
Bluebirdz 2
Unfortunately the price to get votto could include lawrie or bautista, which is why I dont want the trade
jwsox
As some stupid whitesox fans might actually think danks for montero is possible I’m not one of them. Montero for sale maybe but I don’t want the sox to
Give up on him. That’s not to say the yankees and sox can’t match up. Let’s say danks for joba( or some low level prospect) but the yankees have to take on either Dunn, peavy or rios. Peavy or rios makes more sense for the yankees. Peavy makes the most sense as he showed some good signs last season. And said he would be willing to move to the pen and is a free agent after 2012.
East Coast Bias
Great rationale from RAB to keep Montero. Down the line, a cost controlled power bat in the middle of the line up to protect Cano will prove just as valuable as a #2 starter, given Arod and Tex’s age.
Lunchbox45
pfftttt cano needs no protection
MaineSox
That’s what she said
WonderboyRooney10
Antonio Cromartie does
David Struthers
That’s what he told her anyway.
Fangaffes
Why would the Yankees have to choose between Darvish and Wilson. Buy ’em all – let Giardi sort ’em out.

The writer at Royals Revival doesn’t even know what decade it is. I’m not sure I would use their biased opinons much longer if I ran this website.

“When your offer begins with Adam Lind, the other team has to listen, don’t they?”
I don’t know how much less ridiculous the Wells trade could’ve sounded when it was first proposed, though Reagins may have initiated talks if I recall.

After reading that glossy, teary eyed story regarding Rollins and why he will be looking for 4-5 years.. I see no one who would give it to him and no reason for Philly to either. this guy turns 33 next month, is on a severe down turn offensively since 2007 and has pretty much turned into a glove only. Why would a team give this guy 3, even 2 years guaranteed?
I see him back in Philly..Eating crow when it’s all said and done.
