He is worth the roster spot for his defense alone. Especially on this team. Heck, maybe he will even start to rise to his potential this year? Probably not… :/

how does gomez have a job in baseball?
SunsetStripper
Because he’s a gold glove caliber defender
Jeff Peterson
Still a good price for a CF who plays great defense and has great speed. As a full time player he has been a failure but as a role player he still has value. Have to wonder if the start of the 2011 season would have been different for him had he not yanked that first home run and abandoned everything he had done in spring training or he it was inevitable either way…

I think the biggest thing Carlos Gomez needs to do is improve his plate discipline. He swings wildly at breaking balls and for some reason wants to hit homers whenever possible. He needs to figure out what kind of player he is and stick with it. He would be the most lethal player in baseball if he was able to get on base with some consistency. All that aside, his defense alone is worth the contract he signed.

Hmm, this post made me think: After the arbitration cases are all handled, I’d like to see 1) a breakdown of how accurate the MLBTR estimates were and 2) more interestingly, a breakdown by agency in terms of % estimate achieved.
In other words, I’d like to see if certain agents are consistently getting their players more than the estimates and to what degree.

Are the Brewers planning to give a starting job to Gomez over Aoki if he signs until Braun comes back I wonder…Hart and Morgan seem to be set in the other two spots.
Ray Darr
Morgan is strictly a platoon player, whereas Aoki projects as more of an every day guy.

I remember Carlos Gomez as a Met, he always had the talent.
