does EOF really want to be a setup man that much longer? he could be a closer on some teams

He is a much better trade candidate than extension candidate. He isn’t likely to out perform his peripherals again, and he is not an unnecessary luxury with the return of Medlen.

I agree, I think he’ll be part of a midseason deal, though if Vizcaino is really hurt that might change things.
$4 on EOF, is $4mil not spent on JJ/Bourn/Prado.

Really Sean Marshall has been better the last two years? Go compare some stats
Clayton Wilson
Marshall 2010-2011: 150 IP, 2.45 ERA, 1.104 WHIP, 2.5 BB/9, 10.1 K/9, 5 fWAR
O’Flaherty 2010-2011: 118 IP, 1.53 ERA, 1.147 WHIP, 3.0 BB/9, 7.9 K/9, 2.1 fWAR
So you can make the argument that Marshall has been better. O’Flaherty has the much lower ERA, but I’d prefer Marshall going forward based on their peripherals. Biggest difference between the two is in FIP. bWAR is exactly even between the two….

Given McDowell’s success with castoffs from other teams, I don’t see why the Braves would want to tie up a lot of money in a 7th-inning guy, no matter how good he is. It seems that Wren/McDowell can always find another one on the waiver wire.

No way the Braves pay a reliever $4M when they have a stable full of pitching coming up. If they were willing to pay that much Will Ohman would have gotten his $2M a couple year ago.

i think the tops for the Braves with EOF will be 3mil which is why he probably will get traded. I’d hate to see it happen but it could for sure happen. The Braves just aren’t a big market team that could have a bullpen where 3 of 7 arms cost around 20 mil which is where you’d be in a few years.

pretty much. 3 seems generous even
*3 million dollars that the Braves would be willing to spend, i mean
