FS54 2
They should lock up Stanton now
johnsilver
Stanton, Sanchez (Anibel) even Gaby and possibly Bonifacio through his arbitration years.
The Fish have a LOT of young, core people not tied up and lets not forget LoMo either.
FS54 2
Not all of them are worth locking up. I only take chances on Giancarlo, not even on LoMo.

Morrison they probably would want to hold off on another year and see if he is more stable say… That unstable manager they just hired and unstable pitcher from the Cubs they just got…
Bonifacio would be iffy, but after watching the transformation he had under Trader jack last season? it’s like a 100% new player he became and it they could find a position for the guy… he looked a whole lot better as a marlin than did cameron mayben and I watched both play for them…

LoMo is not an OF defensively and not a 1B offensively. Like you suggested, you gotta wait and watch. Same thing with Bonifacio. Again just one good season so far. Stanton is different. He has had potential and performance to back up a contract extension.

I am with you on Stanton having the ability here, then we are seeing teams now tilt towards gamble type deals, even the maybin contract was a gamble one.. Remember he was nothing short of awful for 2 and a half seasons before having that decent season for the padres, his only one yet.
not saying the Fish should go out and give LoMo any kind of deal, but I am one of the Fish fans saying both Stanton and Sanchez (Anibel) are must signs, with Gaby, even his age at 28 without going to look, being a fair candidate for an extreme team friendly deal and I am in favor (iffy) on bonifacio if he repeats his 2011 success, or gets off to a hot start and maintains by the AS break, plus they make a move and find him a permanent position that does *NOT* involve 3b again for him.

Sanchez seems to hold more value to Marlins than Hamels to Phillies and Cain to Giants right now. Without Anibal, you only Josh and Mark for next season. I can see why you want him locked up.

My man Cliff Pennington will also be arbitration eligible for the first time in 2013.
