Doesn’t make sense to release pelfrey. He hasn’t lived up to his potential, but has had 2 years sub 4.00 era, and 2 close to 5.00. While not the greatest he is durable, and gives you 200 innings, many players that make more than the 4M they would save that dont provide that level.
mikefichera
Not sure why he’s surprised. He’s been terrible for the better part of 4 years. If the Mets hadn’t settled I think they would’ve released him.

Don’t hire Axelrod. He’s probably a spy for another team and somewhere has a minion named Professor Z.
Or maybe he means to lead an army of bad players to take out all of the good ones

Wonder if Pelfrey thinks going 7-13 with a 4.74 ERA with 1.4 WAR is not worth nearly 6mil
John
Wonder if Lefty is gonna comment that Banks being cut is the worse thing the orioles have done since trading for Glenn Davis.

Abreu for Pelfrey, Angels eat a couple mil of abreu’s contract.

Because the Angels need more starters.
MetsMagic
And because the Mets need another left fielder that can’t field or hit.

As a Ranger fan I would like Hamilton to just shut up and play. If he does that the contract will take care of its self.
As it stands I am not sure if I would give him the long term contract he is after. He is on the wrong side of 30, has had numerous health issues, and you never know when, or if, he will go off the deep end again.
It may be smarter to allocate that money to another marquee free agent (preferably Grienke, Ethier, or Cain, but you could get Montero, Byrd, and Broxton for what Hamilton will cost) and let Hamilton walk.
