Peavy is saying all of the right things, but if he wants his $22MM club option picked up in 2013, he will need to put together a strong season as a STARTER. Chances are that the option is not picked up and he receives the $4MM buyout instead.
If the option is not picked up, he will need to prove that he can remain healthy and maybe the bullpen does that for him, although it won’t do him any favors as a potential free agent.

Unless Kenny Williams gets on some very good drugs, Jake Peavy’s 2013 option won’t get picked up, regardless of how he pitches.
You just don’t pick up a 22MM option on a guy with the spotty injury history and performance Peavy’s had for the last few years.

Definitely have to give him credit for his attitude about the situation. Guys of lesser character would be balking and throwing a fit about being moved to the bullpen. Then again, you could pretty much move me anywhere if I was making $17M as well.

From what I am hearing, MLB has said no to new TV deal if Moorad sale goes through. Moores must stay majority owner. Bad news for Padres.

I was wondering how that even made any sense whatsoever, then remembered that Bud Selig is MLB commish.
