Talk about a Bummer!! Was actually at the game and initially thought it would be a bruised shin or something. Since there was no announcement during the game had to wait until the drive home to hear what happened.
As if that that wasn’t bad enough, CC has a groin pull and is DL’d for two weeks. Now we’ll see just how well this team has been put together. With all of the things that have taken place in AL East so far, this looks to be a real fun season ahead.

Guth might be a fit, but they’re not going outside the org. Pick one?

It’s awesome being able to read. The first post is from Troy Renck (probably trying to get anybody interested in Guthrie), and the second one is Cashman’s statement.

I’m so ecstatic that the Yankees have depth. Sure hope Banuelos gets healthy soon as he might be given a shot until these guys return.

Sooooo dissapointed by the regression of Betances this year. I would love it for him to be called up to work out the pen and be around CC and maybe pick up some times during side sessions.
Slopeboy
I agree but that will have to wait until September. I’m surprised you would think the Yanks would bring up a kid who is having difficulty with control and give him a spot in the BP in order to tutor him. He is still full of potential, but is going to have earn his stripes at AAA.
Lefty
The Yankees will look to handle loss of Andy Pettitte and C.C. Sabathia from within using Freddy Garcia, Adam Warren, and David Phelps.
I would rather use Jerry Garcia, Someone from the “Warren Commission”, or Michael Phelps then any of those fore-mentioned.
If George Steinbrenner was alive, I couldn’t imagine him going those three either.
I expect a trade very soon, when the Yankees come to their senses. Although their credit card is pretty much maxed out, still I gotta believe they will do something.

“Someone from the “Warren Commission””
Nah. Steinbrenner was more used to facing commissions. Like after watergate when he was charged, then convicted of conspiracy…

Sounds like a lefty point of view!

Kuroda, Hughes, Nova, Garcia and one of Warren or Phelps until CC gets back. I see no reason to trade top prospects for either Greinke or any of those others right now. Relax.
Tommy Meyers
Don’t know if it has any steam behind it, but one of the most trusted baseball reporters in Chicago said this evening that the Yankees now plan to try very hard to get Matt Garza. Price will be steep

I’m not sure I’d call 47-65 a “successful” record while Guthrie was with the O’s.

better than the rest of the team. The 4 years he was there they lost 90+ games, and hit 98 a couple times.
Chris
really there is no reason why cashman cant just kick the tires on greinke, garza or even hamels for that matter. just to see what it will take to get one of those three guys in case it comes down to phelps, warren and garcia not panning out. remember last year hank and hal were working on a trade behind cashmans back for Wandy Rodriguez and the only reason it never went through was because the yankees wanted the astros to pick up most of the contract for the reason of what the yankees had to send over to houston for him. so i wouldnt be surprised to see them do it again with one of those three guys after the all star break if these guys dont pan out

Most teams have already gone down that route. Gm’s regularly talk just seeing what they want for a certain player. I don’t see them coming cheap, and since CC is only down for 2 starts they shouldn’t be worried. Wait until the AS break at least and see how they are doing, and then make a decision. None of those players will come cheap, They will all require several top prospects. Banuelos and williams will most likely be in any package.
