I remember when this guy was supposed to be the next big thing with the Yankees.

When did anyone ever say Sean Henn was the next big thing for the Yankees?
He was a 26th round amateur pick and he had only 1 good year in the minors before his ML debut (which was his very first year in the minors and technically was only half a year). Never ranked anywhere near the top prospect list at all.

Maybe “next big thing” is a bit of a stretch, but I remember some significant hope that he could be a solid pitcher in the organization.

Also, don’t forget Ruben’s Uncle, Julio Gotay of Jim Bouton’s Ball Four Fame.
Julio, used to get all the extra tickets for family and friends for games. Also, he had a cheese sandwich fall out his back pocket sliding into second. Last but not least, he would bring a fish onto the plane to ward off all evil spirts. I hope Ruben is as lively as his Uncle was and that he gets more playing time in the Bigs with the Braves ( Mainly due to Vizquel was in his way.)

Every time see Gotay’s name, I remember the hilarious Julio Gotay story from Bouton’s book “Ball 4” and how he refused to touch 2nd base 1 time because someone put 2 tongue depressors on it resembling a cross and he got terrified of it.. All during a ball game..
Think was how the story went.. Have to drag book out one day and read it again.. Good read for anyone wanting a good insight to 60’s baseball…
Monkey’s Uncle
You can do a lot worse than Ruben Gotay for organizational depth and possible injury replacement. A lot worse.
