It has gotten almost comical all these stories regarding if/when Valentine will be fired, about like when Georgie used to fire Billy Martin on an almost yearly basis, then of course, Georgie would always hire martin back after his NYY missed the PO and martin WOULD get his teams that far..
Martin and Valentine both have the *mouth* for the job.. Bobby V should take up hard drinking (like Martin) and maybe he would start spewing out obnoxious things to the media and make it easier, cause valentine won’t ever get rehired by Boston.. Tad different in Martin winning and Bobby V cruising his way to a dogfight for the cellar.

Tigers? Is Jim Leyland expected to retire or something?
Ham3131
There is much speculation because Jim Leyland’s contract is set to expire at the end of the season and ownership/management has not discussed an extension at this time. Most of the pundents feel that his fate will be determined by if the Tigers get into the post season and obviously how far they advance.

Leyland is slightly more popular in Detroit right now than Bobby Valentine is in Boston. Slightly …
He’s pretty much worn out his welcome here. He had a solid 7 year run, but the Tigers have been extremely inconsistent this season, and he seems to be getting more and more fed up with anyone questioning his questionable decisions. It’s probably time for both parties to move on.

How could Cherington possibly suggest that the Red Sox would be searching for a manager without it alluding to Valentine?
Claud Smoot
as a Tigers fan, I have zero interest in this guy.
Kirk Edward Gerwin
Been saying since last post-season that Francona would be the next manager of the Detroit Tigers. I just had a gut feeling.

Does anyone actually take Jon Heyman seriously as a reporter?
