Am I the only one that things RA Dickey will be a 1-year wonder? I wouldn’t sign this guy long term..
ASod75
Dickey has actually been quite good for 3 years now. Obviously this has been his best year, but take a look at his overall numbers the last 2 years and you’ll see a very solid pitcher. Still, if I were the Mets, I would trade him while his value is at his highest and try to bring in some good young offensive players.

So he’s a “1-year wonder” for the past 3 years? Huh?!
A.L. Hern
You’re absolutely right; one needn’t look any farther than the “quality starts” column to see that Dickey’s not only led the Mets over the last three years, but much of baseball. The problem before this year was run support (and a few of his six losses this season can also be chalked up to a poor Mets offense.)
Over three seasons Dickey’s given the Mets an excellent chance of winning in well over 90% of the times he’s taken the mound. Statistics don’t lie.

Hits 30HRs…………………………………bats .225…. totally irreplaceable.
Classic12
.265/.344/.561/.905 with 25 HR in 352 PA since June 9th.

I didn’t know that he’d turned it around quite so handily. Changes my opinion of him considerably.
wnymetsfan
His average is skewed by his 1st 2 months when he was horrid after basically not playing baseball for a year. As Classic12 pointed out since June he has been much better.

if you assume Harvey will have an up and down year in his first full year – 2013, they don’t give Wheeler his first full year into 2014 that means this team is at least 2 years away from really starting the climb back to the top. Baxter, Duda , Bay and Valdespin are not everyday players that will give you enough to justify their playing time. I would trade Dickey and Wright, since by 2015 I doubt they will be a big part of the plan or at their prime. This teams needs more young players it can mold into a good 2015 team , then sign some Free agents in 2015 to join the young players

So your telling me that the Mets will suck again next year?
This is a pretty shocking development

Why extend these guys? The Mets are a long way from being competitive. They aren’t going to win. Move them and get what they can for them. Then, in a few years, when they can get out from under the stupid contracts, they’ll have something to build around. Trade them. I’d rather see the suck to death for a couple years and build to win, than finish 74-88 every year.
lovebaseball74
thats my point with or without them the mets are not gonna finish above 500 next season
