I’m amazed that this issue is virtually overshadowing the ALCS and NLCS.

Imagine if Boras was still his agent how much hype would still be surrounding the entire episode (escapade)? PT Barnum could bill it as The Greatest Show On Earth
nm344
Only on this site. There is absolutely nothing else going on rumor wise at the moment.
NB
A-Rod was still an above average player and had to deal with a broken wrist at the hands of Felix Hernandez. He’ll be fine next year.
safari_punch
That’s a lot of salary to eat.
Bon Appetite, Yankees.
Tacho Bill
I see a A-Rod for Alfonso Soriano trade in the future. They both have horrible contracts and they’re both in big markets. Why not?
jwsox
Except for the fact that soriano has openly stated he does not want to dh, has a full no trade and only two years remaining where as arod has 5, full no trade, probably only goes home to Miami or another contender and the Cubs would want to get younger not older
Shane_McMahon
ARod ain’t going from NY to Chicago….he’ll block that trade in a New York second…..see what I did there?
ima_robot_beepbeepbeep
Dodgers have become a pretty reckless organization. ARod for Carl Crawford swap would be… interesting.
Gardner to center Crawford to left.
Hanley to short Arod to 3B
dieharddodgerfan
LOL, yeah let’s swap a 31 year old for a 37 year old on 5 yr contracts.
Sorry, but no thanks. ARod at 37 and off ‘roids is a bad, bad gamble on a 5 yr deal.
douglasb
like Crawford isn’t a bad bad gamble? of all the things I’ve heard floated this one makes the most sense straight up. The Yanks would have to eat a lot of money if they wanted to trade with Miami, even for the bloated contracts of Heath Bell or Mark Buehrle. Buehrle gave Miami a solid year in 2012 but his contract escalates big time going forward. Still… it’s nowhere near A-rod’s deal.
petrie000
probably because the Cubs want to use their roster slots on productive players for the next few years?
LazerTown
How exactly does that help yankees. RF is easier for them to fill than 3b

Two years ago, many many Yankees fans were saying Jeter was washed up and should not be re-signed, especially for big money. They sited the numbers as conclusive evidence that he was finished. We all know how that’s gone.
Now here we are with A-Rod, similar circumstances, except that he’s not as lovable and has a bigger set of numbers to live up to, in order to validate his career. All this after all he’s done in his career. I’m not particularly a big fan of Rodriguez, but I’m willing to wait until next year before I start calling for getting rid of him. Jeter will be the first to tell you, that numbers aren’t always the tell all to a story.
Chaim Breslow's Purse
A-Rod used steroids and Jeter didn’t. That’s the difference here.
Slopeboy
@PWNdroia:disqus
Somehow, that wasn’t an issue with the majority of Yankees fans in ’09.
Mike H
You’re right – it’s about attitude as well. And there was never any question of Jeter’s attitude and commitment to the team and the game.
Slopeboy
@twitter-84411812:disqus
My point is not Jeter’s vs A-Rod’s commitment and attitude as perceived by some fans, rather it’s about the double standard and negative frenzy applied at him.
LazerTown
and many have said that Arod is one of hardest working players, and is always willing help rookies out.
David Lurie
Jeter really only declined for one season.. A-Rod’s been steadily going down for the last five.
Slopeboy
@facebook-1133513438:disqus
So for that reason, he deserves the treatment he getting?
Look at those past 5 years and tell me whose overall numbers are better.
David Lurie
That’s debatable, but you’re the one who said that numbers don’t always tell the story. lol I know Jeter’s only had one season when he didn’t hit .300 or close to it. If A-Rod was still hitting .300 we wouldn’t be having this conversation.
LazerTown
Yea but the start of that was .314/.422/.645 year. I know he is regressing, it is expected at 37, but he is still solid defensively, and a still a decent hitter.
Lionel Bossman Craft
He’s also had his hand broken earlier this season and the last the couple seasons prior he’s been playing 2 years off that hip surgery he had done.
aemoreira81
The problem for A-Rod really is that Jeter, at 38, has been relatively healthy and productive. Before the 2011 season, the last time Jeter had missed significant time was the beginning of the 2003 season. A-Rod is becoming more brittle as he ages…and Jeter only has 1 more year on his deal (plus a player option); A-Rod has 5 more years on his deal remaining…and is more likely to be a DH more often going forward, while Jeter can still play the field regularly.
There is also the clutch factor and the big moment issue…with the exception of the 2009 postseason, A-Rod hasn’t done much in the clutch in the postseason.

09?, this year had a broken hand
formerdraftpick 2
Dear A-Rod…Can you please leave? I would even trade you to Boston. ~The Fans
ARod's Ring
What fans buddy? that’s your opinion.
Tko11
His opinion until Arod goes into a slump next year and starts getting booed at Yankee stadium. We all know that if he starts the season off bad (if hes still there) that is what will happen.
NomarGarciaparra
A lot of Yankees fans don’t view it the same way…so instead of pretending that your statement represents the entire fanbase, it is probably best that you sign as “A Fan.”
LazerTown
I’m Yankees fan, and not really for a trade. Sure I would welcome it if they could get rid of alot of the salary, but i really don’t think it helps if they have to eat more than 40-50% of the contract, or get several decent prospects back. He is still above average at 3rd, and who are they going to replace him with? Unless they get significant salary relief, or decent prospects it is a pointless trade.
Guest 4102
and why not the other Yankees that where 0/, at least A-ROD gave you 1 ring in 09 (almost by himself)
Robin Burleyson
It’s no secret Alex had a rough year… Knee surgery, broken hand. However he has contributed alot to the Yankees.. So here’s another FAN who does NOT agree with you formerdraftpick ……. Should of left the “S” off Fans……….
Ralph Frascone
Oh you won’t waive you no trade clause that’s cool…….Welcome to Trenton
Chase Crane
how about atlanta? I mean, I can see ny eat some salary and the Braves sending 2 or 3 c to c- prospects like the Boddy Abreu deal a few years ago.
Francisco Vargas
A-Rod will do the work and come back. He no longer is the hitter he was, but he will produce decent numbers and provide defense. The Yankees can’t replace him as their farm system is a horror. Unfortunately, he is not worth half of what he gets paid.
Shane McMahon
Unfortunately for Yankee fan…..ARod holds all the cards.
