Laffey is not the answer going forward, but that was a big 100+ IP for the Jays this year.

That’s an indication of just how severe the injuries to the Jays were. On a healthy Blue Jays pitching staff, Laffey is at best a mop up, if he makes the team.

thats too much of a cop out excuse for the jays
it was injuries and performance that did the team in, not just injuries. especially to the rotation, morrow was the only starter that hurt the team while he was hurt ( you can make an argument with hutch too i suppose)
the rotation wasn’t that good to begin with, in fact, drabek getting hurt probably improved the team with how villanueva pitched, atleast at first.

Laffey was acquired for exactly what he provided this year…depth. The Jays just did not have enough of it to survive all the injuries suffered.
But I expect the Jays to pick up Rajai’s option and Litsch will cost peanuts, Happ won’t be too expensive, neither will Rasmus though I expect a little raise given the HRs and RBIs. He made 2.7 mill this year, so maybe something like 3.5 mill.
