Let’s hear more excuses a.j. Ellis. Lame!
johnsilver
Probably the smog that used to overcast above the city in the early AM led to problems as well.. U never know about some people and writers.. Always an excuse..
As for that early AM blanket of smog.. Wonder if still occurs? San Diego had it also decades ago.. As someone who came from a “clean” area, Wondered why if was foggy every AM, but the “fog” was only up high all the time and was told it wasn’t fog, but smog 🙁

I lived in LA when I was a kid in the ’60s. Your eyes would water from the smog. With the newer cars, it is not bad.
BlueSkyLA
The killer LA smog is a thing of the past. When I moved to SoCal in the ’70s it was awful, during the summer months especially. Even light exertion could give you chest aches. No more. A big victory for air quality regulations.
Anyway, I am enjoying AJ Ellis’ columns in the Times, easily the best thing going in the sports section these days. I hope the paper will extend his contract.

I haven’t been to Southern CA for more than *1* day since the late 70’s. Was why wondered if it still hung in the air. Figured with clean air standards it was gone, but why asked.
Wife and I spent 1 day at San diego couple years back and didn’t notice it then in the early AM hours there.

You obviously did not read the article.
BlueSkyLA
Or did not understand it. Always a possibility.

Yes, I think Walt Weiss would be a great choice for the Rockies, if anything, he would know how to set an infield defense! Something the Orioles current staff does not.
Interesting note on Weiss he was a 10th round draft choice by the Orioles in 1982. Something I did not know until I was just reading up on him. Why was I reading up on him? I will tell you why, I thought he won a “Gold Glove” during some point in his career. He did not, I am a bit surprised by that.

Ron Wotus would be a great manager. I’d hate to see him leave, but he’ll never get the job away from Bochy.

Surprised riggleman is not on a list or wo
Slopeboy
@Jwick22
Managers with mediocre records that try to exhort contracts are not looked upon with favor by teams looking for a new manager.
johnsilver
Well put my friend..
Hey.. Does that mean Valentine is going to join Riggleman in the extortion game after things cool off some around him? At least Valentine won something in his time as manager..
Slopeboy
I don’t think Valentine is an extortionist as much as a blackmailer. As I understand it, he took hush money.
johnsilver
LOL and then talked anyway! Had it been the mob? He would join Hoffa in East Rutherford 🙂
Slopeboy
That Hoffa story is a myth. The Football Giants & the FBI actually had both end zones dug up and nothing was ever found. I suspect that Hoffa was dispersed in the form of several dozen cans of Alpo dog food.
johnsilver
Read and saw that on TV shows also. Still something almost mythical about someone who was in cahoots with the kennedies, syndicated crime and played everyone else off against each other to end up wearing concrete galoshes..
Jack Smith
Why not Ozzie ?
jigokusabre
If the Rockies don’t hire Weiss, the Marlins should interview him.
