Joe really needs to trust nunez more. Giving up the DH in the 6th inning of a tied game is terrible move. Especially since jeter is really not the greatest defensive replacement ever.
It really frustrates me how they handle him. He had decent trade value back in the winter and several teams wanted him. Either trade him, move him to 3B or the outfield permanently, or let him get some semi-regular spot starts at shortstop.
Lowe has very quietly turned his season around. He has thrown 20+ innings in the past 1.5 months, really lowering the workload on the rest of the pen.

Mike Rizzo had some of the easiest choices ever when it comes to draft. Both Strasburg and Harper were can’t miss prospects and Rendon fell to them when he could’ve been top 3. He has been very lucky. Now, he also made some great choices with Storen, Lambardozzi, and Espinosa, but any team would have taken Harper and Strasburg at number 1. Still did a nice job getting Gio, Jackson (who always makes the post season with his team), and Morse.

Was good to get Gio, but he still gave up alot to get him. 2 #1 picks in consecutive years will help alot of teams. Just like 2006/2007/2008 helped the rays when they got longoria, price, and then beckham. 50% of #1 picks between 2001 and 2010 have had very good careers (mauer, upton, price, strasburg, harper) It’s about making good picks when you don’t have to top picks.
FS54 2
Zimmermann, Desmond, Espinosa, Stammen, Storen, I think that is pretty good scouting in later rounds/picks.
LazerTown
Certainly. The rays are the same way, most of their major talent was from the later rounds, but if they didnt have those top picks 2006(3rd) and 2007(1st) they wouldn’t have longoria and price. They wouldn’t be anywhere close to a playoff team without those two.
FS54 2
Nationals have Jim Bowden to thank for those two picks, not Rizzo.
