Want young pitching?
Delgado, Teheran, Hanson.

Came here to say the same thing. There’s a definite matchup here.

I was thinking the exact same thing. We need a CF and have young pitching. I would rather have Fowler come in then attempt to keep Bourn.
RippinNTearinAB
I don’t see why anyone would go for Bourn over Fowler. When Bourn was traded to the Braves in 2011, his numbers were not impressive as a Brave. This year, he was great in the first 4 months, but regressed down the stretch again.

Didnt realize he was from Atlanta. Okay yeah, get it done.

“disappointing performances from highly touted trade acquisitions such as Drew Pomeranz and Alex White”.
Well, look at it this way: The Rockies’ FO takes 100% of the fault. These kids were rushed into the big-leagues far too quickly, and the organization should have known better.
Pomeranz should have spent at least 4 – 5 months between AA and AAA, and maybe 1 month of MLB. Conversely, Alex White was definitely was more ‘MLB-ready’ than Pomeranz, but with unimpressive numbers in AAA Colorado, how could he possibly be successful in MLB? White should have spent 3 – 4 months in AAA.
It’s one thing to aggressively promote young players; it’s another drop two rookies into a sink-or-swim environment.
Hopefully the old adage is true: That which does not kill us makes us stronger.
Otherwise the Rockies could have wasted two potential talents.

I always wondered why the Rockies didn’t only draft and/or sign sinkerballers. in that park, it seems the more gound balls the better. I could see the elevation hurting a 4 seam/curve guy, but a sinker/slider guy? seems like it wouldn’t affect it THAT much.

They’ve tried that, and it’s easier said than done…their best seasons were with Jeff Francis and Ubaldo Jimenez in the rotation.
DerangedAngry Hilbilly
it seems that they could get away with an avg “away” offense, if they spent most of their cash on top flight sinkerballers.since half of their games could make the Mariners look like the 27 Yankees anyway….

Jonathon Niese is a starting point….
