No harm, no foul for the Dodgers. He wouldn’t be taken (if eligible) in the Rule V draft because nobody would take such a gamble on him to keep him on the 25-man roster. Might as well use that spot for someone who might have been selected.

i don’t know a teams that need outfield help could pick him up in the draft

Maybe. But he missed all of last year and is out till June of this year. He has a long road ahead of him, doubt someone takes him and keeps him all year
Joel Brooks
Thats what the Rays thought after Josh Hamilton was cleared to play after his suspension was lifted.

I understand your point and thought process, but this is a very different situation. Silverio has missed over a year of baseball and will be out until at least June. It wasn’t because of substance abuse, but rather because of a situation that he easily could have been killed. I don’t know the rules for a rule 5 guy to be kept when he is going to start the year on the DL, but to commit one of 25 spot to a player who hasn’t played baseball in over a year, will not be ready for the 1st two months of the srason(minimum) and hasn’t played above AA ball is quite risky

Yankees will take him if you don’t want him
You Know Who
Someone will take a chance on him

Silverio is a pretty talented prospect. Don’t understand why they don’t just put him on the 40 man and then 60 day dl him? Rather than possibly lose him.
