Position player market is pretty set, but all of the top pitchers still out there.

If Youkilis’ back isn’t completely broken, he could be a decent low risk high reward candidate at first base. Sending him to the hot corner was a clear mistake, but he does play Gold Glove first base. I doubt he would require more than a two million dollar contract plus incentives.

The Yankees thought the same last year, but paid him a fortune. Interesting guy, managed 28 games and a WAR of -.2 and walked away with a smile. Fooled Cashman, I guess.

He should never have been playing 3rd. I also don’t think a ten million dollar contract was warranted given his production in 2012.

Most of that $10m was actually a tax he charged them for having to be seen in public without his beard.

This is the new reality of free agency in baseball…it makes it nearly impossible to drastically improve your club by spending alone.

I would love to see the Orioles sign as a flier Franklin Gutierrez.
Then send him to train with Brady Anderson and have him ready to roll for Spring Training. Sign him to a one year make good contract! I would not only find that very inspiring, but it help me forget about this past GM meeting in Florida.
It would be most helpful if this were to occur.

Franklin Gutierrez would actually be a good replacement to take over Brian Roberts job on the disabled list.
