Wow, did not think Seattle was actually a player for Cano! Will he be worth the contract for it’s entirety? No, but this signing will give hope to their fan base, sell merchandise, and possible draw more free agents to Seattle.

Didn’t this happen last week?

The best part is that Cano and Felix will alone combine to make over 2/3 of the entire team’s financial commitments.

You may want to check your math.

The Mariners will not forfeit their 2nd round pick, but the compensation pick they would otherwise gain for Kendrys Morales signing elsewhere.

good luck cano in that lineup.

I think with the addition of either Cruz or Choo an signing a few good arms would put the Mariners over the top and they should be contenders

Yeah, probably not. I think Ellsbury is even more overrated than Cano, although both are overpaid.

Franklin for Ichiro and salary relief… probably an overpay for the M’s, but imagine the buzz with the return of Ichiro on a Seattle team that means something.
JohnnyM
Or they could just not overpay if they want him that bad.

Touche.

Lol, this was a good point. Got me chuckling in my corner too.

why not give him a no-trade clause. With that contract, he’s untradeable anyway.

I think he’s saying he won’t win one with the Mariners.
