I doubt it, for two reasons: 1) signing deals to avoid arbitration doesn’t preclude someone from getting traded, and 2) the New York media not only loves speculating but also loves proffering remedies and solutions to problems that might not even exist.
I remember recently, one columnist (not sure if it was the Daily News or the Post) had the Mets trading Murphy and Davis for a mediocre 1B so that they could then move Tejada to 2B and sign Drew for SS. Basically, do not underestimate them.

To be honest Murphy has been one of the most stable Mets players the past 2 seasons he honestly deserves the money he’s getting considering the stable numbers he puts up at 2B.
