Could someone please explain to me the diffrence between DFA and outrighting a player. Also what does it mean when a player has 1 option left or has no options left. Thank you

I am almost sure about the options but not the other one so I’m only gonna try to explain the options. If you have an option you can be sent down to the minors and if you have none you can accept the minor league assignment or go to Free agency.

“A player who is designated for assignment (DFA) is immediately removed
from the 40-man roster. This gives the team time to decide what to do
with the player while freeing up a roster spot for another transaction,
if needed. Once a player is designated for assignment, the team has ten
days to do one of the following things: the player can be traded, the
player can be released, or the player can be put on waivers and,
provided he clears, outrighted to the minors. A player who is outrighted
to the minors is removed from the 40-man roster but is still paid
according to the terms of his guaranteed contract. A player can only be
outrighted once in his career without his consent.”
As for options one option left means that a player can be sent to the minors while still remaining on the 40 man roster without going through waivers where another team could claim them. If they have no options left they must go through waivers where any other team can claim them before being sent down. An option is good for the whole baseball year so you can bring a player up and down for the 2014 season while only using one option. Depending on circumstances like service time players can have multiple options remaining.
