It was devastating seeing Avisail Garcia going down for the Sox but I have loved the start of the season so far. I was at the game last week in Chicago when Abreu blasted two. I mean, they were no doubters and it sounded awesome off the bat. Eaton is an great player to have atop the lineup and in the clubhouse with the hustle and energy he provides. I hope the Sox can keep it up!

“Williams said he initially told Sox chairman Jerry Reinsdorf that he thought Abreu was worth a four-year, $40MM investment, to which Reinsdorf replied, “Why not $50MM?” ”
That is why you are no longer GM Kenny. And you are luck you have a boss who is loyal to people or you would be out of a job. Hahn turned around your train wreck you created in one off season. Love the way this team plays!

I don’t think even this story could make me see Reinsdorf as anything but a continuing obstacle to increasing the amount of money the Sox spend.

I think where he got in the Sox way spending wise is none big league roster talent. He put nothing into international scouting or development. I would say part of that was Kenny ignoring it as he just wanted chips to trade. Reinsdorf has brought in some high priced players in his time ( Albert Bell) and has increase payroll after the WS. I think if this team can compete and the fans come out he will spend some money. I still have a small amount of hatred for him for the Bulls break up, but most of it went away in 05!
