Marlins aren’t moving Stanton? You don’t say.
Jaysfan1994 2
The Marlins are going to move Stanton just like they’ve moved every other star they’ve ever had before him.
Nicholas Bagg
True.

Things change sometimes.
Jaysfan1994 2
Jeff Loria hasn’t.

Will be interesting to see the offer the Cubs make to Lester given the past history.

Marlins aren’t moving Stanton.
Tomorrow: Fan of “x” team with fantasy-land trade proposal involving Stanton.
Lather. Rinse. Repeat.

Why wait until tomorrow?

You take that back. I think I can put together a trade proposal with 4 or 5 AAAA guys/major league washouts/number 5 outfielders/middle relievers/number one prospects from 6 years ago, that would really wow the Marlins.
DarthMurph
Don’t forget Will Middlebrooks. Now that Doubront is gone, he needs to be the centerpiece.
VAR
I figured we could probably build it around him and Buchholz. They’ve both been abject failures this year, but I’m sure the Marlins interest will be peaked.
Ace2095
You and your silly fan trade proposals, everybody knows that you cannot get Stanton unless you give up Victorino and Napoli, I mean who could say no to a package of Buchholz, Will Middlebrooks, Victorino and Napoli…….while were at it just sign Daniel Bard and send him to Miami also they would jump all over it.
VAR
Is it too late to put Mike Carp back on the active roster? I say the deal never gets done without Carp.
Ace2095
We never should of traded Gomes for Cespedes when we could of trade him for Stanton. Cherrington really whiffed on this one 🙁
ChiefIlliniwek
Daniel Bard’s music just started playing!!!

He can move himself to the tune of 8/240 -10/300 after next season commences. Enough trade talk is right. Lets see where he ends up and what Loria’s big talk means. Does he flinch or does he pay…..just enjoy the ride.

Dodgers were probably offering Chris Anderson, I think Boston had been scouting him
vtadave
As a Dodgers fan, I’d have been okay with that. Still would have Urias and Holmes. Miller would have really helped.

I can’t see why the Cubs would go the six or seven years that Lester will require, when they won’t be competitive for at least two more years even if the kids come up (not all rookies are great immediately, plus some won’t hit at all). By then, Cubs would be paying for the declining years. I understand the connection, but just don’t see it happening.
KJ4realz
They could realistically bring up Baez and Bryant next year (could win out in ST). Sign a couple guys and you have a solid core to build around that could grow for 2015. If things pan out I wouldne be surprised to see the Cubs compete as early as 2016 (which is 2 years like you said). That’s not bad to have Lester during that time then. Two years he’ll be 32, on the decline, but not a bad anchor to have when your core is so young.

So Cafardo finally admits that the Kemp trade rumors were cooked up by the sports media and never made any sense in the first place. Now tell us something we didn’t know.

Stanton is going somewhere.. in 2017 when he walks to another team.
