Melvin Mendoza, Jr.
Pretty interesting since he has an expansive knowledge of both the player and agent side when dealing with negotiations.

This is a extremely great hire by the D’backs!!!!

Matt Kemp won’t get traded to Arizona. But I can see Chad Billingsley going over there for a one year deal or even a minor league deal.

Good for Dave. I’m glad to see this. I only wish him the best.

Diamondbacks hired a couple of good ones. Should put the franchise in the right direction.

Think about this: Dave Stewart and Tony LaRussa are going to work with Kirk Gibson in an effort to beat the Dodgers.
dwarfstar
Nope Kirk Gibson has been fired!!!!

Ah…yea…smart decision! My joke lasted for only one day lol

Stewart also served as both a pitching coach and in a front office/player development role for the Padres (which you probably forgot since the club has worked hard to make their visual identity completely indistinguishable from the Brewers.

Dave Stewart was the brains behind a blue jays trade for Joey Hamilton from the Padres. He crashed and burned and they were stuck with his terrible contract. Hopefully he has learned a few lessons since then.

How is 3/17mm a bad contract considering around that same time Kevin Brown signed a 6/105. I would not consider 3/17 a bad contract at all….

Everyone should learn from their mistakes. Not going to hold it against him. At least he isn’t one of the same ole retread GM’s that fail in one job and get to fail 3 or 4 more times somewhere else.

The Dodgers are gonna miss De Jon Watson. He’s a great baseball man and a damn good guy

Stewart wasn’t a very good Assistant GM with Toronto. Almost all of the decisions he was responsible were failures. I still haven’t gotten over trading Woody Williams for Joey Hamilton and then giving Hamilton a massive – at the time – contract.
Though the one think I really liked about Stewart was that he would sit in the stands with the fans (behind home plate) every game and was very approachable.

Great player! And even nicer guy when I met him years ago during a fan event. I wish him nothing but the best.
