Federal League
With the first round [and first supplemental round] picks the Yankees have had over the last several years, they seemed to have an aversion to drafting college hitters — traditionally the safest bet in the amateur draft.
Brackman, Bleich, Cole [who was a terrific pick, they just couldn’t sign him], Culver, Heathcott, Bichette Jr., Hensley. It’s all pitchers and high school position players, some of whom [Culver] were pretty clearly not first round material.
It is clear they were banking on the upside of high school players and were comfortable using free agency to supply the reliable hitters.

Yankees need new blood leading the way. Hire someone like Michael Girsch or DeJon Watson to lead the system.
