Anyone else think Boras called DD within minutes of the Tigers loss yesterday?
Dock_Elvis
I actually think that Rodriguez is persona non grata to many teams. He seems to have a niche with Milwaukee… A resign is entirely probable.

When the Brewers traded for Jonathon Broxton it basically ended any chance of K-Rod coming back. He also isn’t very good and was aided by many 2-3 runs lead saves. I wouldn’t touch him with a 10ft. poll, time to move on.
davbee
In K-Rod’s 49 save opportunities, he only gave up runs in 10 of them (5 blown saves, and 5 converted saves). So in nearly 80% of his save opportunities he gave up 0 runs.
RascalTrain
He isn’t good and the majority of his good saves came in the first half when he was playing over his head. He got lucky a lot and that is pretty obvious when you look at his FIP(4.50). He is an average closer at best.
No way the Brewers pay him any where near 7mil to be a set up man. He would have to take a hefty discount off of that to stay with the Brewers.
davbee
Most of the games that K-Rod gave up runs were non-save situations. I will agree with you that the Brewers won’t sign him for $7 mil–they’re already on the hook for Broxton’s salary, so he’s their closer by default.
Tituswash
Between 5 blown saves, 5 that could have easily been blown saves, and then all the holds he gave up runs in I just think he is too risky for more than 1/4mil for the Brewers. They have bigger needs and I’d rather sign Zack Duke anyway over K-ROD
davbee
The Brewers have more pressing needs than to invest even $4 mil on a closer, so K-Rod is as good as gone. But that means the Brewers have a closer’s hole to fill. The first option would seem to be Broxton and his $9 mil salary for 2015, but in his two biggest appearances of the season he melted down spectacularly. They could try someone like Jeffress, but he wasn’t always at his best in high leverage situations. Sounds like Henderson might not be ready to start the season, so the Brewers look to be going into 2015 with definite questions in that area.
MB923
Yep. Maybe same goes for David Robertson’s agent.

I wonder if Dave Dombrowski answers the phone, “Little Caeser’s pizza! pizza!” After every post season
Steve Corbett
Dombrowski has a pre-Christmas wish list and it’s ALL relievers!
BananaMonster
Wait he’s not as old as you think he is? Somewhere in Philadelphia Ruben Amaro is crossing off this name from his wish list
Dock_Elvis
Ruben Amaro probably has scouts in the Dominican trying to verify that Albert Pujols is older than he states so that he can offer him a contract when his Angels one expires.

K-Rod will net a 3 year 24 million deal on December 21st, 2014.
oogadebob
Nope.
oh Hal
In a way, he’s kind of an ideal closer. He won’t be the best reliever on the team, but he’s done it for so long that he isn’t fazed by the drama. He throws a variety of pitches including an outstanding change up. And as written, he’s durable.
bdpecore
Agreed he is quite the competitor who wants the ball every night and more so the day after a blown save.
bdpecore
If the Brewers decide to go with Clark or Rogers at 1B next year instead of looking to sign a free agent like Adam LaRoche they could afford to sign K-Rod to a 2yr/$12-14M deal. Personally I would prefer an offensive upgrade like LaRoche since we the Crew have plenty of young arms capable of filling late inning roles (Smith, Thornburg, Jeffress and Nelson). Their offense is what collapsed down the stretch. They were losing to many low scoring games by failing to generate runs.

K-rod probably needs to resign with the Milwaukee
DarthMurph
I think K-Rod is too much of an afterthought for most teams to get 7 million AAV. He’s not a top draw and the relief market has too many people like him.
