I would like to see the White Sox buy low on him. He would fit nicely between Sale and Quintana. His sinker would fit nicely in the Cell.

Why “teams in bigger parks”? Seems like of all the FA pitchers on the market, Masterson is the one who would NOT need a bigger park. I’d expect the hitter-friendly teams to go big after him: Rockies, Yankees, Cubs, Rangers.
LazerTown
Right. Any pitcher is better in a big park. The bigger barkparks though should be more prioritizing flyball pitchers, smaller parks get the groundballers.

I would love to see the Royals put a one year offer out there.
phillyinatlanta
Hoping to see the phils make a run at him. his GB rate would look great in philly

Agreed. Of all the free agent SP I think Masterson and Volquez make the best fits for Philly. Even though the latter is coming off a great year and Masterson’s was injury plagued, I think their eventual contracts won’t be too different.

Hope the Dodgers go after him. Would love someone who can hold up the back end of the rotation.

12 mill seems high for a guarantee. I can see 7-8 million plus incentives
Stonehands
Before this season he was a durable number 2/3 based on how you look at it. If he can be a durable number 4 he can be worth $12mil easily. Look at Haren, a number 5 was given $10mil, thats just market value
Jaysfan1994 2
Haren was never as bad as Justin Masterson was this year. $7M-$8M seems realistic for a guy that just had a atrocious season.
Stonehands
He was not very good in 2013 before he signed with the dodgers.
Stonehands
And even with a bad year, he is a 29 year old with a track record of being solid and durable, I wouldn’t rule out a 3/27 or 2/20 type deal either if he wants multiple years
jrodhard
haren got that deal from the Dodgers-a clear over pay by a big market team.
DarthMurph
4 consecutive strong years followed by a spotty walk year? No. 2010 and 2012 were not “strong” years by any measure of the word.
slashieboy .
Put him in the NL and he’ll look just as good as Doug Fister. The differnce between pitching in the two leagues are bigger than ever.
Melvin Mendoza, Jr.
He’s already gotten torched in an admittedly tiny sample size in the NL
