Angels need help in LF but Craig really doesn’t seem like much of an upgrade
Steven Garrison
Craig would be nice, but there will be other bats available with better contracts. I know they were looking at craig and another rumor was they were looking at cargo.
stl_cards16
I agree. Allen Craig is one of my favorite players in baseball but I don’t see any reason a team would trot him out in the OF. He needs to be shipped to a team that’s not contending that can put him at 1B/DH for a couple months to see if he can fix himself.
rundmc1981
Yunel did not get 15 minutes into Moneyball.
Blah blah blah
“Oakland relievers have allowed an opponent batting line roughly similar to Alexi Amarista‘s career rate in low-leverage situations, Cameron notes, but in
high-leverage situations, opposing batters are hitting the A’s relief
corps at a clip similar to Mike Trout‘s slash line.”
It would have been more helpful to just say the numbers here. I don’t know these players’ batting lines off the top of my head.
alex navarrette
Do you really need to be told the difference between Trout and Amarista at the plate?
Blah blah blah
You misinterpreted what I said.

I’ll give you a hint, Mike Trout is a good hitter.
MuleorAstroMule
That’s really not what he’s saying. We all know Mike Trout is a good hitter. I’d wager though that most baseball fans have no idea what Amarista’s slash line is. That makes it harder to discern the difference between the two when just using the player’s stats would have made it much easier.
Rally Weimaraner
I’ll give you another hint, its not good. I personally liked the phrasing; not every article needs to be jam packed with triple slash lines and k/9 breakdowns.
MuleorAstroMule
It probably just boils down to personal preference and I understand author’s desire to mix it up a bit. You can only write what are essentially the same five or six articles so many different ways. Amarista just might not be the best choice because of his relative anonymity.
Which is why a team needs to sign Yuniesky Betancourt and we can get back our old benchmark for terrible.
Blah blah blah
You misinterpreted what I said…

Fear the Rangers!
Solomon Crowe
Yeah, the New York rangers.
John Ranta
Really, people are surprised that the A’s, who traded away several of their best players for a bunch of prospects and unproven players, are struggling?
Joseph Gonzalez
Their offense was broken apart so badly, throw in a handful of injuries and their start doesn’t surprise me
Steven Garrison
Also the angels should look at adam lind
NickinIthaca
Ha there ever been any elaboration on Yunel Escobar’s distaste for the A’s? This isn’t the first time I’ve heard about him not wanting to go there, but have never heard why.
Jason G
I can’t believe with this record and how horrible the pen has been that the A’s haven’t yet promoted Venditte. He deserves a shot. And I for one will go to more games just to get a chance to see the ambidextrous pitcher.
