This does sound weird, but it would be a minor miracle if Verlander could even come somewhat close to matching “Lobster Butters” stats so far (3.00 ERA, 3.24 FIP, 139 ERA+).
Blah blah blah
“In truth, Upton represents a free roll for the Friars, who took on his salary only to facilitate the addition of Craig Kimbrel.”
Only is a strong word. I would imagine a part of it would have been to entice younger brother Justin into signing an extension. And to dump a little salary of their own, in addition to clearing space in the outfield by dealing Maybin and Quentin.

Where will Aiken (last year’s #1 with TJ) be taken?

If we knew that we probably wouldn’t be reading and commenting on MLBTR boards.
It’s anybody’s guess. Depends on how teams feel about his UCL and whether it can withstand a couple thousand innings.

No way Aiken falls past the Pirates
Blah blah blah
There is certainly a way. This sounds like a sandwich round situation, ie Sean Manaea

I tend to agree since this draft class is very lackluster and he is a legitimate ace talent level pitcher. If he makes it out of the top 10 I’ll be shocked.
