Brian Johnson and Bradley Jr. to Brewers for Gomez and a RP arm
Matt Galvin
Why Red Sox are out of it?
Matt McCarron 3
Because Gomez and most of the Brewer’s BP arms are controllable into next year.
I don’t think Johnson is enough for Gomez, Bradley doesn’t have much value.
joshbresser
Not even close.
Bradley Jr couldn’t even get Furbush when offered. The guy has just about no value right now.
Brian Johnson is a fringe top 100 prospect. He’s nowhere near good enough to be the centerpiece of a deal for a hitter like Gomez, especially when he’s controlled through 2016.

That was months ago, as in all before JBJ put up an .881 OPS, .390OBP and (currently) hit to the tune of .315 in the pitching oriented International league.
He’d be back in Boston now if they had a spot for him, or if Farrell would cease playing De Aza so much. Same with Castillo.
JBJ’s defense and speed are super plusses, if the guy can just hit .270-ish and stick up and OPS of .700 or so at the MLB level? He’d be a benefit to any MLB team. Doubt there are more than a couple of players in the game (currently) who have his combo skills of defense and arm in CF.
stymeedone
That Boston chose to add DeAza rather than use JBJ says all that is necessary. Boston has given up on JBJ.

Considering upton has a .299/.355/.558 line at home and a .208/.308/.306 line on the road, I don’t think petco is to blame
Jeff Todd
Not to say it’s to blame, per se, but in theory, it’s still suppressing those home numbers.
Bronx Bombers
Might as well list every Red Sox outfielder not named Mookie Betts.

I would keep Ben Revere if i’m the Phillies.
Matt McCarron 3
Hes not a piece of the future and the Phillies aren’t very high on him.
I wouldn’t mind keeping him, but if he get fetch something decent, might as well try.
dylanp5030
Quinn is basically Revere with better speed, defense, and power. Whether that translates to MLB or not remains to be seen (and also he has to stay healthy).

Van Slyke would be a perfect fit for the Pirates to play at 1st or RF against a leftie

Francouer is on fire right now!
Matt Galvin
Revere to Angels?
Gomez to Royals?
Bruce to Orioles?
Venable to Astros?
Parra to Twins?
Uoton to Mets?
AsFan89
Uoton isn’t going anywhere
Sky14
A smart team might try to target Arcia. He will likely always lack on the defensive side but he is only 24 and has plenty of potential with the bat. I’d prefer they hold onto him, but it doesn’t appear he will have much opportunity with the Twins. He likely could be had fairly cheap, perhaps for a decent reliever or a similarly positioned young player.

Cespedes to the Mets for two pitching prospects, one at least at AA level.
bobbleheadguru
Cespedes AND Price to the Mets… for one of the big 4.
stl_cards16 2
It just doesn’t make sense for the Mets to deal any of them.
stymeedone
That’s why I asked for minor leaguers. Tho, Montero is intriguing also.
Mets don’t really need Price anyway.

“San Diego is probably out of it, and has a lot of young talent to recoup after its offseason acquisition spree. Upton is slashing a relatively light (for him) .252/.331/.426, though Petco is doing him no favors and he has contributed 15 long balls and 17 stolen bases. He’s probably the best clearly available rental piece.”
OK, I’m pretty tired of the lazy coverage out there. Upton is hitting .291/.347/.544 with 12 of his 15 long balls at Petco. He’s destroying that park. Away from it, though, he’s been funking atrocious.
