The Jays were smart. They sent the message to their clubhouse and their fans that they’re in this to win this. The AL East is rarely this winnable, but they also look built to make a deep run in the postseason.
As for Kelly, he hasn’t had a bad outing in over a month. If he keeps it up, he should be penciled in for the rotation. They’ll need to bring in a few pitchers, including a fallback option in the likely case that something goes wrong with Kelly, Buchholz, or E-Rod.

Kelly seems to have taken some off of his fastball since he went on this little streak of his to gain command of it. He generally sits 94-95mph now and only throws his “high rider” around 95-96 most of the time to get the wild swingers to chase and it seems to be working pretty well.
His change also seems to have improved over this run.

Johnny G. reminds me of David Eckstein. Hope he’s able to make it back. Good pick-up. Not Howie Kendrick, but he’s been pretty good.
