These players and agents who criticize team friendly deals, or what appear to be team friendly deals to young players that 1st start playing their respective MLB careers need to just keep their opinions to themselves, or apologize once in awhile and admit they are WRONG when deals like Singleton, Mayben.. Not only ones go sour..
Small market teams take gambles, giving young players guaranteed cash in advance for promise and these young kids may jump at the risk over sometimes broken promises by greedy promises, which can sometimes turn into empty dreams by a agent promising grandeur and he will be promising the same thing to another kid, just like him as he shuts the door on him after said players career flames out. Agents don’t care. They look at bottom dollar. The players need to evaluate both what they can get then and now, vs the future. They can’t just listen to what is being laid out and promised by the masses. This is for him and his own future. Forget Norris and the agents.

As a community, we can’t categorically assume that all team friendly deals are actually team friendly. Some of them work out great for the team, but that’s not always the case. The Blue Jays certainly didn’t receive a bargain for extending Romero. Nor did they receive a bargain for extending Hinske (if you can remember that far back).
Singleton absolutely made the right choice in securing his long-term deal.

Oh I remember Hinske allrighty, though think it was Boston who ended up paying the remainder of his deal after he was traded to them for a playoff push. Allen Craig is another guy who was very wise to take on guaranteed big dollars in lieu of taking it year by year and looks like may not sniff any negligible MLB AB’s again.
Where are union union supporters to ever apologize when things go sour? No small wonder they are hiding, as usual in every aspect of life when things go wrong on their end.
